Hi everyone!
Again there may be some new people on here so if you are new make sure to pay me your subscription fee of one (1) million dollars. And Malachi you still owe me three (3) million dollars tsk tsk
Monday was relaxing, we got to have our little church building to ourselves to talk with family, write emails, and practice Piano. It was really fun, and then in the evening we got to teach a guy named Lee! Lee is super cool, we taught him the Plan of Salvation on his porch, and he re-read each scripture we read with him 3 or 4 times until he understood. It was really cool! We biked around and met 4 interested people and got their numbers as we went! Also talked to Pastor Hayes.
Tuesday we had Mission conference, and then ate lunch with Royce at this restaurant called the kitchen table! It's cafeteria style, and I got cabbage-wrapped meatloaf, saltwater cornbread, boiled lima beans, sweet corn casserole, potatoes, and Strawberry cheesecake! It was all surprisingly good, definitely very unique! After that we biked around in the afternoon, and had a lesson with a lady named Becky. Almost every lesson we taught this week was about the Sacrament and why we need church, cause I think that's really important. So if I don't say what we taught then you can assume the sacrament.
Also we went up to Waldo, and found the guy who drives a lifted Lincoln Extended sedan with stationary rims, and he's interested! We talked to him for a bit, and apparently he's been wanting to get back into being more spiritual. We also visited a girl who requested to meet us and then her Dad asked how we knew her. We told him that we'd gotten a request to meet and he angrily told us never to come back. So I guess he probably shouldn't be leaving his iPad out or something if his kids are signing up to meet us haha
We also went to the campus and walked around, and it's really pretty! A great campus, I forgot how fun college campuses can be, especially when they have a bell tower!
On Wednesday we drove an hour and a half down to Minden, and had district council at the old Baptist church that the church rents and uses for that branch! It's a super weird church, it feels so foreign and yet you walk by each room and it has the classic grey signs that all of our buildings have indicating what room is what! We had District council in a small upper attic classroom, and we have a great district! Elder Freeman our district leader is very short, but mighty haha--after district council we got lunch with the Brownlee Elders, and got to know them a bit better. Then we took the long drive back through the forests, and on the way we stopped in Springhill and visited a few people. Every town around here is similar, small and run-down. Its very predictable in one way, but you also never know what to expect so it's pretty exciting! Also we get to drive a 2022 Nissan Frontier truck, which I quite like driving around these messed-up roads! It feels kind of like the van I used to drive.
In the evening we biked all around basically the whole town of Magnolia, and we talked to so many people. We got to talk to a guy named Tyre, and we gave him a Book of Mormon and taught him. He said he wants to come to church with us, and is YSA age.
Also it was the most perfect temperature for biking, it was a good night.
Thursday we walked the dogs for the shelter, and then we biked to the sketchy (at least even more so) part of Magnolia! We met a cool girl named Myeisha, and set up a lesson with her! She said she will be waiting for us so we better show up! Also met a guy holding a bike tire and he warned us to get off that street cause apparently there are gangs there who will shoot. I'm very sceptical of this though...
On Friday we called around and found a Thrift store to do service at! And they have us testing electronics! So I get to do it again, except this time I'm not in one of the richest cities and instead I'm in one of the poorest cities. So everything is wayyyyy less nice haha--but its super fun!
We actually got a member dinner in the evening which was great! We ate some good Mexican food with the Marchans, and then Brother Marchan showed us his Ford radio that he put in his Chevy (he was very proud), and he also showed us his shelter which he built from scratch! We biked more in the evening as usual.
Saturday we had 4 lessons, and not even one of them cancelled! They all happened! And they were scattered throughout the day too. We went over to teach Tyre and he had chairs set up in the back all ready and he had actually read in the Book of Mormon too! He promised he'd be at church. The only problem was his dog spent the lesson biting Elder Davis so I just basically taught it all. :) Myeisha also swore up and down that she would come to church. And then for our lesson with Lee we decided to call Royce mid-lesson and asked him to share his testimony! And he did! He shared his conversion story and why he goes to church and everything. It was really cool. Bringing members in by the phone might be the way in this area.
Sunday Tyre biked to church 30 minutes early and helped us hold the doors for people haha-- and Myeisha came too, and brought her Mom! And they liked it so much that all 3 will be back, and Myeishas mom said she's going to be our newest member! So it was super good. President Smtih came up and gave a really good talk. And I got sustained and set apart too which was cool. Now I have the master key to the whole building muahahaha
